Oral and maxillofacial pathology

Oral and maxillofacial pathology (OMP) is an important bridge between dentistry and medicine. The Oral & Maxillofacial Pathology Unit of the Department of Pathology and Cell Biology performs diagnostic evaluations of specimens from the oral and maxillofacial regions. These specimens include both bony and soft-tissue lesions from adult and pediatric patients. The diagnosis of Oral and maxillofacial pathology depends on type of the tissues, for example hard tissue depends on:

  • Clinical feature
  • Radiographic feature
  • Microscopical feature
